Three students were awarded the "Touching UPC" top ten students in 2014
Currently, the top ten students who touched UPC have been revealed honorably. Abulikemu, Zhu Yuhou and Liu Siyao from College of Chemical Engineering were on the list.
Touching UPC aiming at awarding those who are especially responsible, hard-working and persistent in their life. By selecting and awarding those top students, we hope that students would be inspired to be better spokespeople of UPC, therefore a healthy and good environment is guaranteed.
Abulikemu, majoring in Process Equipment and Control Engineering from class of 2013, struggled to study hard in the university and asked teachers questions diligently though his parents passed away when he was young. The harsh reality can not beat him down and his determination helps him to find the direction in life. He walks on and pursues his dream with his mother’s hope on mind. He was praised as an encouraging student who is from minor ethic group.
Zhu Yuhou is also majoring in Process Equipment and Control Engineering from class of 2011. He saved one old man who tried committing suicide and got drowned. When the old man later found him and showed thanks, he said, “Everyone would try to land you a hand in that situation.”He put the spirit of volunteers, that is “devotion, kindness, mutual help and advancement”, into practice. He deserves our praise and admiration and he is indeed a hero who helps others without leaving his name. Liu Siyao, a postgraduate from class of 2013, carried out a series of green campaigns to help build low-carbon environment and green city. Her team was awarded “Excellent Voluntary Team”in the city. They have done voluntary work for 110 times in six years; raised more than 9000 yuan for charity; financially helped 7 children whose parents worked far away from home, 15 senior citizens, 23 children with autism. With over 800 hours of voluntary work, Liu sticks to her voluntary spirit and cares about the dignity of life. She was praised as “Student who love the senior and the disabled with new faith”.
