According to the agreement between Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center of Texas A&M University and Centerfor Safety,Environmental & Energy Conservation Technology of China University of Petroleum (East China), the second international course of chemical process safety started successfully.
Opening ceremony of the lecture was chaired by Yi Liu who is the associate professor of Department of Environmental and Safety Engineering. Deputy Director of International Office of UPC, Kehua Wu, and vice dean of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Prof. Fang Huang and Dr. Chad Mashuga took part in this ceremony as well as all the students. Ms. Wu gave congratulations to International Course of UPC and thanks to Dr. Mashuga for his lecturing. She hoped to strengthen international academic communication between Texas A&M University and UPC. Prof. Huang listed several requirements of classes and gave thanks to the support from Texas A&M University for the last several years. He wished to develop friendship between Texas A&M University and UPC by implementing such events.
International Course of Chemical Process Safety was lectured by Dr. Mashuga from the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center. More than 40 undergraduate and graduate students registered this course. They will study for 3 weeks including cultural communication, lectures and other activities. The same textbook and method of teaching with Texas A&M University will be used at class dominated English. It’s an excellent opportunity for native teachers and students to experience foreign teaching and to improve standard of English teaching. Students will also benefit from this course. The start of international course will further promote international academic communication and internationalization of class at UPC.
