On May 21st, the State Key Laboratory of heavy oil and the State Key Laboratory of organometallic chemistry carried out academic exchanges at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry.

Academician Tang Yong, deputy director of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, warmly welcomed the arrival of the State Key Laboratory of heavy oil. He hoped that we can promote mutual understanding, tap the potential of cooperation fully, complement advantages each other and promote scientific research exchanges and cooperation through academic exchanges.

Professor Yang Chaohe, deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of heavy oil, dean of the school of Chemical Engineering, and researcher You Shuli, director of the State Key Laboratory of organometallic chemistry, introduced their respective units, research directions, characteristics, techniques and research results. Research Liu Guosheng, Sun Xiuli and Huangzheng of the State Key Laboratory of organometallic chemistry made a report on functionalized reaction of olefin catalyzed by metals, controlled polymerization and application of ethylene and homogeneous paraffin transformation. They introduced new developments and applications in the field of organometallic catalysis from different perspectives. Professor Liu Chenguang, Professor Wu Mingbo and associate professor Chen Xiaobo of the State Key Laboratory of heavy oil made a report around the subject of the production technology and Countermeasure of gasoline and diesel oil, preparation and application of heavy oil based functional carbon materials and directional transformation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons during heavy oil upgrading. They reported the results of their research in these fields and the current hot issues. Both sides have conducted adequate discussions and exchanges to promote mutual understanding, preliminary docking and a common research focus, which has laid a good foundation for further in-depth cooperation.

Dean Yang Chaohe indicated that the research work of the two key laboratories in the state has a good foundation for cooperation. He hoped to promote comprehensive cooperation of two national key laboratories, boost growth of young talents, promote the interdisciplinary, balance of basic research and engineering application research, enhance the scientific research ability and level through academic exchanges.

The State Key Laboratory of organometallic chemistry is based on the Shanghai Institute of organic chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is one of the key laboratories in the field of organic chemistry in China. Its predecessor is the Chinese Academy of Sciences metal organic chemistry open laboratory. In 1989, it was officially completed and opened to the outside world. In 1995 and 1999, it was named excellent laboratory in the two assessments. In February 2000, the State Key Laboratory of organometallic chemistry was approved to be established by the Ministry of science and technology demonstrated. In April 2001, it became the National Key Laboratory through acceptance. In 2004, it was named "excellent laboratory" and the advanced group of the National Key Laboratory plan. It also won the "golden ox award" in the evaluation of the Ministry of science and technology.
